Expanding Gates by Home & Ranch Wire
Features
To expand the gates simply slide the gate open to the desired width, and install a Tek screw (or any self-tapping metal screw) in each of the top, middle and bottom rails of the gate frame. This will secure the gate to the desired width and you can then attach pickets to the metal frame using the appropriate length wood-to-metal screw based on the thickness of your pickets. You can also choose to bolt 2x4 rails to the metal frame to hold the frame to the desired width, however, this tends to add additional weight to the gate unit which we all want to avoid if we can.
COMPATIBLE WITH Wood & Metal Posts
The gate can be sold with either a 2 3/8” or 2 7/8” clamp on male hinge designed to clamp right to your metal post. Or you can choose the second option of an 8” long bolt hinge giving the ability to drill through a variety of wood or metal posts and allowing yourself to adjust the hinges in cases where the posts are not perfectly plumb.
benefits
REDUCTION IN WARRANTY WORK:
The metal frame will eliminate or greatly reduce the potential for call backs on warranty work that are common with wood frame gates.
EASY GATE ADJUSTMENTS:
When using the bolt through adjustable hinge, if there is a callback, adjusting the gate can be done by simply tightening or loosening a nut on the hinge.
